Patricia "P.J." Cooksey

Patricia "P.J." Cooksey is a trailblazer for women in the sport of racing. The Ohio native started in the leaky-roof circuit of West Virginia and made her way to the Kentucky Derby and became the first woman to ride in the Preakness Stakes. A leading rider at several tracks in the Midwest, Pat Cooksey reigned as the top female rider in North America before Julie Krone assumed that mantle.
