Glen Downs
Glen Downs is Chief of Staff to U.S. Congressman Walter Jones, a nine-term Republican who represents coastal North Carolina. He sits on the Armed Services and Financial Services Committees. Prior to joining Jones’ staff, Downs was a Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senator Lauch Faircloth where he handled banking and financial services legislation, as well as other budget and tax-related matters. Downs was formerly Chief of Staff to the Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina, and a former Assistant Cabinet Secretary in the Administration of North Carolina Governor Jim Martin. Prior to entering government and politics he was a Financial Officer at BB&T, now one of the nation’s largest financial holding companies, spanning most of the southeastern United States. He earned BS at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where he graduated Magna cum Laude and with Honors in Economics. He also holds a Master of Economics degree from North Carolina State University.
