Richard Barrett
Richard Barrett, writer and commentator on finance, technology and business, writes the bi-weekly CFOKnowledge and tweets at @CFOKnowledge. One of the very first MBA graduates in the UK, he has enjoyed a varied career in sportswear, express delivery, insurance, and finally software. A sales and marketing professional by training, Richard’s business life has been mainly spent helping entrepreneurs build their companies and realize their value. His last position was an SVP of Global Marketing for ALG Software; the company was sold to BusinessObjects, which was then acquired by SAP in 2009. Richard has written publications and run master classes for the UK’s Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He formally retired to the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides in 2012, to run a guest house with his wife.
