Jonathan Colby
Jonathan Colby is a Hydrodynamic Engineer with Verdant Power, a tidal energy device developer based in New York City. He has been with the company since 2006, after completing his Masters in Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. As a member of the company’s Engineering and Resource Assessment Teams, his work includes turbine blade design, hydrodynamic modeling, data processing and analysis, fieldwork, and general turbine operation responsibilities. Colby is active on a number of national and international standards committees, currently serving as convener of the Tidal Performance Ad-hoc Group of the IEC Technical Committee for Wave, Tidal, and Other Water Current Converters (TC 114). Colby is also active in the development of a conformity assessment scheme for Marine Energy at the IEC. In addition, he was the recipient of the ANSI Next Generation award in 2012.
