Gerry Altamirano
Gerry Altamirano serves as the Assistant Dean and Director of the Disability Resource Center at the University of Florida. Originally from Texas, Gerry received his Masters in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical Center. Gerry serves as the Disability Knowledge Community National Chair for NASPA’s Association for Student Affairs Professionals. Gerry balances being a full time higher education administrator while completing his doctoral studies in Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Florida. His research interests include disability advocacy in higher education as well as enhancing teacher preparation curriculum for social consciousness. Gerry feels a personal responsibility to aid in the advancement of underrepresented populations and seeks opportunities for innovation through cross-disciplinary connections.
