Gary Guccione

Gary Guccione was born and raised in Butte, Mt., a mining town that also had greyhound racing. He worked in his father’s kennel at the Butte track and later on his father's greyhound farm. In late 1960, he was hired by the Black Hills Track in Rapid City, SD. In 1971 he joined the staff at the National Greyhound Association and in 1982 was appointed NGA secretary-treasurer, Keeper of the Stud Book and executive director, and held those posts until his retirement in 2016. Gary has served on a variety of industry committees in addition to the American Greyhound Council’s director. He has compiled breeding statistics and wrote hundreds of articles and seven books on greyhound bloodlines. He has received the Founders Award of Adoption Excellence from Greyhound Pets of America. In 2009, he was inducted into the Greyhound Hall Of Fame. In 2013, he was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award from the AGTOA. Gary and his wife, Terri have seven grown children and 19 grandchildren.
