Charles Blanning

Charles Blanning is a third generation greyhound man and one of today’s pre-eminent greyhound writers and historians. With his grandfather and father, who bred Greyhounds for both coursing and racing, Charles attended coursing meetings as a child, and grew up with a love of greyhounds that became a lifetime passion. He wrote as coursing correspondent for several sports publications, and served as Secretary of the National Coursing Club and Keeper of the Greyhound Stud Book of England from 1988 until his retirement in 2007. Charles has authored or co-authored three books on greyhounds and coursing, most recently “The Greyhound and the Hare,” the most thoroughly researched, complete history of the greyhound breed ever written. Charles and his wife Shelia reside in the Exmoor region of southwest England.
