Dr. Samantha Pillay
Dr. Samantha Pillay overcame physical limitations from congenital hip dysplasia and smashed the glass ceiling to become South Australia’s first female urological surgeon and entrepreneur. As a single mother learning to juggle it all, she is passionate about sharing her lessons to make others’ lives easier, whether from getting dinner on the table to running a business and budgeting or managing our health. She advocates gender equity, disability inclusion and cultural diversity, reducing the stigma of urinary incontinence and raising awareness about preventable chronic diseases. Her first two books, The No Recipe Cookbook and When I’m a Surgeon, are Amazon No. 1 best-sellers. Her Inspirational Careers picture book series inspires children to Dream Big and Aim High, including When I’m an Entrepreneur, and soon for release When I’m an Astronaut. Samantha was one of four finalist nominees for SA Australian of the Year 2022.
