Episode Description

Did you know that October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month? While we reflect on what this means to each of us, what also does it mean to our family members without a voice....our furry pet family members? Domestic violence is a VERY recent personal experience of mine. We will hear from the inspiring Nicole Forsyth, President and CEO of RedRover. SHE is making a difference in this world! We will learn about ALL of the programs RedRover has to offer. RedRover©, a national nonprofit organization based in California, has distributed over 40,000 dollars in grant funds to 8 domestic violence shelters throughout the USA so the shelters can create pet-friendly lodging to house victims’ pets. The mission of RedRover is to bring animals out of crisis and strengthen the bond between people and animals through emergency sheltering, disaster relief services, financial assistance and education. Their programs include RedRover Relief-Responders-Readers-and-Learning. Support RedRover!

The Compassionate Life

Archives Available on VoiceAmerica Empowerment Channel

The character qualities I have tried to incorporate into my life have been compassion, humility, kindness, and selflessness. Through various charitable endeavors, I have met incredibly inspiring individuals. This show will focus on leading a compassionate life. We will meet a variety of international humanitarians who only want to share their story and their passion with the world. I have myself come into contact with each of these impressive people via various charitable endeavors I have taken part in over the years. They want to “give back” to this environment and the people and animals in it in any way that they can. Not only will you find each week uplifting, you will also be inspired. It may touch your heart or strike a chord within your soul that enables you to “think outside the box.” I hope that you’ll give back to your own family, community and environment.

Dr. Brittany King

I am a well-rounded five year practicing veterinarian trying to give back to the environment. I have visited each continent at least twice and also ran a marathon on each one nearly twice. I have completed the Triple 7 Quest (running seven marathons on seven continents in eleven days linked by bungee cords to six other people) and swam twenty-two miles across the English Channel nonstop raising thousands of dollars for pets in need through both endeavors. I have volunteered my time and expertise for news media outreach programs about pets via articles, news interviews, and Children’s Museum future-vet programs. I started the sustainable “One Health One Medicine Clinics” charity in Grenada, combining free human and pet health care with public health education for the people of Grenada. I have completed the full 140.6 mile Ironman Triathlon. I have done research projects furthering zoonotic disease education on elephants in Thailand and wildlife in Uganda. I am a Eucharistic minister at my local Catholic church. I attended Auburn on a swimming scholarship where we were the Division I 2002 NCAA national swimming champions. I most recently volunteered with Faithful Paws with my three legged rescue pup. I am currently an ambassador and virtual coach for the Pet Peace of Mind Charity. I think for me, the goal of my life is to find ways to give back and inspire others. Our program is the perfect venue to share such ideas.
